Welcome to the first installment of Portland Notes on the Portland Logue. What is Portland Notes? A round up of interesting items being reported by other local blogs. Portland Notes will not run a set schedule but rather be mixed in now and again with other Portland related posts I’ll be doing. Enjoy!

  • Mayor Tom Potter, speaking at the Portland City Club on Friday night, gave his annual State of the City address. In it he said he felt the Rose City was doing well for itself.
  • Have you ever attended an OMSI Science Pub? It is a monthly event hosted by OMSI at the bridgeport brewpub + bakery downtown, is free to the public and talks about scientific topics of the day. This month the talk, set for Jan. 29, is on “The Stem Cell Debate: Science, Ethics and Public Policy”.
  • The Portland Auto Show is just around the corner - Jan. 25-28 to be exact. It is being held at the Oregon Convention Center. [via]

The OMSI talks are usually quite good. Beer and brains, what more could you want from an evening?
