Wordstock Book Festival in Portland - November, 2007

wordstockBook lovers unite - in Portland! Yes, we have excellent independent bookstores like Powell’s which are open year-round, but once a year we also have a book festival called Wordstock:

It is one of the largest literary events on the West Coast, and well worth a visit if you’re in the area at the time. This year, Wordstock will be held from November 9th to the 11th. … Workshops, lectures and readings from more than 150 authors fill the weekend, and you can hear from authors such as Melissa Fay Greene, winner of the prestigious Robert F. Kennedy Book Award for Praying for Sheetrock, Dave Eggers, author of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and Carl Hiaasen, author of Skinny Dip.

Carrie at the Business Travel Logue has posted information about a special package deal for the weekend from the Benson Hotel that includes not only admission to Wordstock but also a $20 gift card to Borders. Oh, and your stay at the Benson, of course.

For more general information about Wordstock, you can check out their official website here.
